Closing ceremony of the CNS workshop

The seminar participants presented their motion of thanks to Yao Patricia Sylvie, Executive Secretary of the CNS.

The curtain fell on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Riviera Palmeraie, on the capacity building workshop for social workers. Organized by the National Oversight Committee of Actions for Fight against Trafficking, Exploitation and Child Labor (CNS), the workshop was attended by 75 social workers from 34 inner cities and Abidjan.

Thus, for two (02) days, the participants improved their understanding of the problem, but also their skills in the fight against the worst forms of child labor.

Therefore, at the closing ceremony of this seminar, Mrs. Anne Désiré Ouloto, Vice-President of the Inter-ministerial Committee, Minister for Solidarity, Family, Women and Children, speaking on behalf of the absent Minister Dosso Moussa, urged them to commit themselves fully to the eradication of the phenomenon of child labor. "We must persevere and never give up if we want to push far away from our borders child abuse and child labor," she urged the participants.

As she continued, she shared her conviction that a secure environment that would guarantee children's rights would not have been a reality without a well-trained human resource.

She therefore welcomed the holding of the workshop. For her, it is clear that the impact of these two days of training will have an impact on the ground. "The services provided to populations and children will have to be more dynamic and likely to reduce cases of violation of their right," recommended the Minister.

Bada Bernard, Director of the San Pedro Social Center, reviewed the participants' recommendations for remedying the phenomenon during the final report of the workshop.

Mrs. Anne Désirée Ouloto, Vice-President of the CIM, encouraged the participants to commit themselves in the fight against child labor.

For example, in the area of ​​prevention, they recommended the development of a budgeted work plan; Carrying out pre-analyzes of the environment of the target communities; Guaranteeing support and follow-up to Community protection mechanisms; The organization of community animation activities for local development; Facilitating access to basic social services through the reception, counseling and support of families at risk. Under the assumption of responsibility, the participants advocate the mapping of actors, departments and institutions at the departmental level; The setting up of a local consultation framework between the main services and finally the definition and organization of a local circuit of reference and care for children victims of abuse, violence and exploitation. In the area of ​​monitoring and evaluation, they wish to collect information in the context of the monitoring of child labor.

Finally, they advocate to the administrative and political authorities the adoption of the national child protection policy; The acceleration of the process of establishing the SOSTECI (System of Observation and Monitoring of Child Labor in Côte d'Ivoire) throughout the national territory; The building of infrastructures to care for child victims of abuse throughout the national territory; providing social structures in material and human resources; strengthening the technical and financial capacities of social workers, and developing and implementing a national community-based child protection program.
