Takikro: Police put an end to a child trafficker's journey

On Sunday March 16, 2025, officers from Child Labour Unit in Bondoukou arrested an individual by the name of Gbinmayito Firmin, aged 41, of Beninese nationality and purportedly a bricklayer living in Duékoué. The arrest took place at the Takikro border, as he was transporting five (05) minors aged between 9 and 17, without any documents, to Côte d'Ivoire.

According to the suspect's initial statements during the hearing, his aim was to exploit these children in farm work and house construction, in exchange for sums ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 CFA francs.

On the instructions of the Bondoukou Public Prosecutor, Gbinmayito Firmin will be presented to the public prosecutor's office on Monday March 17, 2025 to answer for his actions.

As for the children, they were taken in charge by the NGO Cibex, with the assistance of Bondoukou’s Child Labour Police Unit, to ensure their protection and well-being.

In addition, the unit of the city of Man were informed in order to identify and arrest any accomplices involved in this human trafficking network.

This operation demonstrates the Ivorian authorities' commitment to combating child trafficking and protecting the rights of the most vulnerable.
